Feline Friday - Frankie

Say "Hello" to Frankie!  I was so happy to meet this kitty!  Frankie came to StreetCats just 2 days ago and everyone that has met him loves him!  You have probably noticed his beautiful eyes and luxurious coat.  He seems to be part Siamese and part Tabby.

Frankie is about a year old and is very friendly.  He has already made friends with all of the volunteers that he has met and also has attempted to make friends with many of the cats in the shop.  At least that is our interpretation of his sniffing noses with other cats.   Wally isn't quite ready to be friends, but I bet he comes around soon enough.

Frankie is definitely good with other cats.  He is also good with children and perhaps gentle dogs.  His foster mom introduced him to a dog and he didn't get scared or excited with that particular dog.   He loves to play and is also very intelligent, in my opinion, because he knows his name!

Here is a photograph of him taking a break from all of our photography session a.k.a. playing.

Frankie was rescued by Patti, one of our volunteers at StreetCats.  She has grown very close to Frankie as she has spent the past 6 months fostering him in her home.  She describes him as having "a sweet little soul".   He is a laid back kitty and a lapcat as well.  When he arrived at Streetcats he immediately was interested in the cat rooms and the other cats at the shop, but wasn't upset about anything.

Frankie is very healthy physically and mentally!  He has had all of his tests, treatments and shots as well as having been neutered.  You can see by the yellow tag on his collar that he has been microchipped.  When he is adopted the new owners' information will be put on the chip.  If he gets lost he can easily be returned to his owners should he be found by someone who has him checked for the microchip at a vet or a rescue organization.  The first year's registration for this great program is paid by StreetCats upon adoption.

If you are interested in meeting Frankie, feel free to come by StreetCats at 6520 E. 60th St, in Tulsa, 10:30 - 5:00 Tuesday though Saturday, or call our message line, 918-298-0104 with any questions that you may have.  We would love to show you around and introduce you to Frankie  and I’m sure that he would love to meet you, too!

Feline Friday - Cleo!

Cleo is one sweet and laid back kitty!   She's been at StreetCats for less than a week and she has already stolen our hearts! And "yes" her beautiful eyes are really "that" green!

She is fine with the other kitties and doesn't seem to pay much attention to them, but she is still a little shy, being new to the shop, and likes to stay in the office where there's is a little less action.

Cleo is estimated to be about 2 years old.  She was rescued and taken in and had her babies in 2014.  The rescuer was, however, no longer able to keep her, and that's how she came to be with us.

She took a few minutes away from her nap to play with me!

Cleo is a healthy kitty!  She's been given the V.I.P. treatment (Very Important Pet) and has received the best of veterinarian care.  She has a clean bill of health and is ready for adoption.

All of the tests have been run, all the shots have been given and even a microchip has been placed under her skin.  When she is adopted the new owner's information will be placed on the chip.  If she is lost, and found by someone other than her owners, she can be taken to any vet who will check to see if she has a chip and then read it to get the owners' information.  This is a wonderful service to help get pets back home to their people!  StreetCats will also pay for the first year's registration with Home Again pet service.

If you are interested in meeting Cleo, feel free to come by StreetCats at 6520 E. 60th St, in Tulsa, 10:30 - 5:00 Tuesday though Saturday, or call our message line, 918-298-0104 with any questions that you may have.  We would love to show you around and introduce you to Cleo and I’m sure that she would love to meet you, too, but you better hurry!  Because she is such a sweetie I'm sure that she'll be adopted soon!

Feline Friday-Bobby and Wally

Bobby and Wally are the best of buddies!   They are litter mates and have lived their whole lives together!

Bobby is the black and white tuxedo cat.....

and Wally is the all black panther cat.
Both are affectionate and friendly.  They are about 1 1/2 years old and very playful, and we are really enjoying having them in the shop.  We have been told by the previous owner that one of their favorite playtime activities is to play with toilet paper.  I'm sure that between the two of them the rolls never had a chance.

As kittens they were rescued from the north Harvard area.  They have grown up in a loving safe environment and are great with people and other cats.  We have, however learned that they are scared of dogs.

They came to StreetCats when their owner could no longer care for them.  The owner had previously adopted Wally and Bobby from StreetCats, so of course we took them back.  Once a StreetCat always a StreetCat!  Unfortunately situations do occur where an owner must give up their cat, or in this case cats.  At that time we are there to help them through it by bringing the cat back to the shop and assuring the owner that we will do all that's possible to find them another loving home.

We want Bobby and Wally to be adopted together.  It would be hard on them to separate them at this stage of their lives without causing them a lot of stress and unhappiness.  After seeing them together anyone would understand how close they are to each other.  It's possible that the double adoption fees could stand in the way of an adoption for both cats and we would hate to see that happen.  So to help out a sponsor has offered to pay the adoption fee for one cat  in order to allow them to be adopted together, if necessary.

Both kitties are healthy! They have been to the vet and had ALL of the tests, treatments, and vaccines that are recommended and needed.  Both of them have also been neutered.  Wally and Bobby have also been microchipped.  At the time of their adoption the new owner's contact information will be added to the chip and StreetCats will pay for the first year's registration with the Home Again program that helps lost pets be reunited with their owners.

If you are interested in meeting Wally and Bobby, feel free to come by StreetCats at 6520 E. 60th St, in Tulsa, 10:30 - 5:00 Tuesday though Saturday, or call our message line, 918-298-0104 with any questions that you may have.  We would love to show you around and introduce you to Bobby and Wally and I’m sure that they would love to meet you, too!

Feline Friday - Adoptions!!!

I try to plan ahead, at least some of the time, and for this week's Feline Friday post I had decided to feature Tiki!  I took new pictures last Tuesday, the 17th, and went back today, the 19th, to take a few more.  When I got to the shop I met 2 women coming out with a cat carrier.  I asked them if they had just adopted a cat and they said "yes".  Of course I had to ask which kitty was going to a new home.  Guess who the lucky kitty was!

Tiki!

You all would be surprised to find out how many times I have chosen a kitty to feature and before I get it published the kitty is adopted! Then I scramble a little to find another kitty for the post.  I've decided that that's "Ok" with me!  If I can be of service by helping the universe choose kitties to be adopted then so be it!

This evening I began thinking about recent adoptions.  I am so happy the way things have been going with adoptions of our kitties, many of which have been Feline Friday featured kitties.

Here are a few more kitties, not in any specific order, that went to their new homes recently!

Haley!
Sweet Haley wasn't even in the shop long enough to have a turn on Feline Friday!

Haley's friend, Hannah, was in and out so fast that I didn't have an opportunity to photograph her!

Congratulations to our newly adopted kitties!

I'm planning on featuring Waffle next Friday.  Will he be at the shop or not?  We'll see....

P. S.  We want your ideas!

It may not seem like it, but we have been blogging for a couple of years now and we hope you all have enjoyed the postings by the "cats" and by me.

Some of you may not know it, but the blog is set up to receive comments.  At the end of any entry scroll down a little further and you'll see the comment box.   It would be great to hear from you, the readers, about what you like and also what you would like to see happen with the blog in the future.  So feel free to comment anytime after any of the entries.

Feline Friday - Cubby!

This is truly a cat on a mission, a pet with pep in his step and a twinkle in his eye.  He has places to go, cats to meet and toys to play with day in and day out!

Cubby is a brown tabby with white on his face, his chest and his four little paws.  He also has claws in those four little paws.

He is friendly with everyone and has no issues whatsoever with any of the other cats.
If you saw the feature last week on Cooper you may have seen this picture already, but I like it and wanted to show off Cubby in his feature this week.

He really likes being busy and being with people, too.  His bio says that he likes to sit in laps.  I guess that's after he has worn himself out playing!

Cubby will make a wonderful pet for someone!   He is healthy.   He has been to the vet and been tested and vaccinated and is ready to go to his new home!   He will also be micro-chipped when he does go with the new owner's contact information along with the first year's registration paid for by StreetCats!

If you are interested in meeting Cubby,  feel free to come by StreetCats at 6520 E. 60th St, in Tulsa, 10:30 - 5:00 Tuesday though Saturday, or call our message line, 918-298-0104 with any questions that you may have.   We would love to show you around and introduce you to Cubby and I’m sure that he would love to meet you, too!   But you better hurry!   I have a feeling that he will be adopted quickly!

Newly Annointed

Well, well, well . . . one never knows what one might find!  Since that Vanna left (I did not like her at all, by the way) I've been occupying the office at night.  In my case, curiosity did not kill the cat but it sure has made for some interesting reading!  I discovered a blog!  What, you might ask is a "blog?"  Well, blog is just a colloquialism for a web log.  A man named Peter Merholz decided that instead of saying web log all the time it would be easier to just say blog.  He did that in 1999, before I was even born.

So this is the first time I've encountered a blog.  Now they don't just happen by themselves.  Someone has to create them.  And I have learned that this blog was created by a cat!  Now I never met this cat, but she was very spunky and I think I might have liked her.  That's a definite "might."  She had a lot of cat confidence and that's a good thing.  She knew herself to be the most important cat at StreetCats.  This cat's name was Lulu and she fancied herself a teacher.  She also had a high opinion of her eyes!  Well, okay they are pretty, but did they really deserve all the attention she gave them?  What do you think?

Well, Lulu got adopted and on her way out the door she appointed Janie as the cat to continue her blog.  Now Janie's story is not a typical cat story.  She did not recognize that the humans were her servants and she thought they were angels.  Disgusting!  But I can sort of understand her view of things.  Janie had a rough life and if it weren't for StreetCats she'd be pushing up daisies right now!  She was rescued by one of the volunteers, Katie Spring.  I don't pay much attention to the humans around here, but I think I'm going to have to seek this one out and take a look.  Perhaps she really is an angel!  Janie lives with Katie now and I've never seen her, but here is what she looked like when she wrote the blog.

Now keep in mind that it took me a long time to read this blog.  This cat writing has been going on for a couple of years now!  And in addition to what the cats have written there has been a human interloper who writes something called Feline Friday.  I couldn't figure out at first why this was allowed, but I have to admit she gets some pretty darn good photos of us cats.  I'll show you some she took of me in a minute.

So I'm reading along feeling really sleepy and I come across a picture of the next cat blogger.  Holy cat!!  Man, if I were several years younger she and I could have made beautiful music together.  What a looker!  Her name is Toots and no wonder someone wanted to adopt her.  Bring her back!  And who cares what she had to say!  She doesn't need to talk at all as far as I'm concerned!

And then Vanna.  Didn't like that girl, didn't like her at all!  Her and her stupid contests!  Pinkest ears?  Really!  Best manicure??!!  Oh my gosh, I'm glad she's gone now . . . and not just because I now have the office!  I think she got herself adopted because she knew who the rightful royalty of StreetCats is!  Oh okay, I'll show you her picture . . . and then we can just all forget her!

So there you have it, the four cats who have written this blog.  Well, now there are five!  Yes, I've decided to be the fifth cat blogger for StreetCats.  But I am not just a blogger!  If Lulu could declare herself the most important cat at StreetCats, then surely I can reveal myself as the royalty that I am.  I am now the King of StreetCats!  My name is Truman, but you may call me Sire.  Now I'm going to show you a couple of pictures of myself.  But I'm tired so that's it for now.  I will write again soon and will tell you some things about myself.  I will also tell you what new laws I've decided to enact.  I haven't decided yet if I will be a benevolent king or a tyrant.  I'm thinking I might be more comfortable with tyrant, but we'll see.  Maybe a little of both!  So here I am!

So if you see me, bow down.  I'll let you know what else you need to do later!

Feline Friday - Cooper!

Cooper is absolutely delightful!  He is full of spunk and likes to play with everybody and everything!

He is a tan and white little guy under a year old and has not been declawed.  He came to us after showing up on the porch of a nice person who could feed him but was unable to keep him.  Fortunately for him and for us, he made it to StreetCats.

He is a friendly and affectionate kitten that gets along with everybody, including kids and dogs.  And as you can see, he gets along with other cats, as well.

He is totally healthy!  He has had all of the tests and vaccinations that he needs and is ready for a new home.  He is micro-chipped and when he goes to his new home the owners contact information will be added to it.  Also the first year's registration will be paid for by StreetCats.

If you are interested in meeting Cooper, feel free to come by StreetCats at 6520 E. 60th St, in Tulsa, 10:30 - 5:00 Tuesday though Saturday, or call our message line, 918-298-0104 with any questions that you may have.  We would love to show you around and introduce you to Cooper and I’m sure that he would love to meet you, too!
